Kent Police said the death at Headcorn Aerodrome in Ashford was being treated as unexplained
An investigation has been launched into the death of a skydiver at an aerodrome in Kent.
Emergency services were called to Headcorn Aerodrome in Ashford following a report that the body of a parachutist had been found at 10:00 BST on Monday.
A man in his 50s was confirmed dead and his next of kin have been informed, Kent Police said.
British Skydiving said it was investigating an accident at the aerodrome and findings would be passed to relevant authorities, including a coroner.
Police said the death was being treated as unexplained and an investigation was under way in liaison with the regulator.
GoSkydive, which operates at the airfield, said that the incident involved a solo skydiver who was operating independently of GoSkydive's operations, which is focused exclusively on tandem skydiving experiences.
"Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the individual involved, their family and all those affected by this tragic incident," a spokesperson said.
"We would like to express our sincere thanks to all emergency services, air support and on-site personnel for their swift and professional response, as well as to the ground teams that assisted."
