Mauritius’s Kim Le Court powered to victory in stage three of the Tour of Britain in Llandudno and moved top of the general classification.

The 30-year-old AG Insurance-Soudal rider attacked with 2.5km to go on the 104.7km route from Mold to cross the summit finish on Great Orme 13 seconds ahead of Germany’s Liane Lippert (Movistar).

Le Court burst clear on the final climb and the Netherlands’ overnight GC leader, Lorena Wiebes, who had won the first two stages, could not respond.

Sweden’s Caroline Andersson (Liv AlUla Jayco) finished third a further seven seconds behind, while Britain’s Lauren Dickson (FDJ United – SUEZ) was sixth as Wiebes came home in 10th.

Le Court now leads the GC table with two days remaining, 26 seconds ahead of Lippert and with a 35-second advantage over third-placed Wiebes.

Meanwhile, the South African cyclist S’annara Grove has been provisionally suspended because of a failed doping test, the International Testing Agency said Friday. Grove’s sample collected on 28 July at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow returned an “adverse analytical finding” for ipamorelin, the ITA said.

The ITA said Grove has been informed of the case and has the right to challenge the provisional suspension.

The 32-year-old Grove rides professionally for the Smurfit Westrock team and did not start the third stage of the Tour of Britain on Friday, having been in 80th place after stage two.
